Our mission is to engage the youth in our community and guide them into becoming better versions of themselves.

Now to the present day, MFB has provided me with many opportunities to grow in my faith, professional skills, and my connection to my community.

To begin, my experience at MFB has been an ever-growing experience. I started MFB around the time I graduated high school. At this point, MFB was a small group of kids ranging from middle school to high school. During this time, I was going through rough patch in my life. MFB was one of my escapes from those rough patches. I knew every Friday; I can distress and just play basketball. At this point, Matt was beginning his half-time sessions to where I was reintroduced to the Bible and what God had to say. I grew up catholic, but never really kept up with it. I was at a point in life where I would question everything about life. Matt would speak about certain themes and lessons that would spark my interest in growing my faith. I had a mentality of living life in my ways and my ways only. One day, Matt offered everyone if they wanted to be baptized. I offered myself to that request, and I believe that’s where my life changed. I got baptized in March 2016 and my life went from 0-100. I met my (now wife) during this time. I was going to school and work full-time. My faith was in overdrive and things keep falling in the right place.  Now to present day, MFB has provided me with many opportunities to grow in my faith, professional skills, and my connection to my community. I volunteered in many MFB events to where I gave my time to others. MFB has provided me with various small financial support opportunities for my academic endeavors such as book and student fees. Without MFB, I would be a few steps behind the curve right now. Now I will be finishing up my last semester in my undergraduate program at Northern Illinois University. I believe MFB was created to spawn new faith, grow faiths, and support them. I am a living example of that. This organization offers individuals from all walks of life that are willing to help in which way they can. Thank you to all the leaders, volunteers, members, and community members for all you provide to My Father’s Business.

When I was younger I never understood The Bible and never knew why people were getting baptized. I woke up one day, opened The Bible after getting in a fight my sophomore year. One year later, I met officer Matt Thornton at 17 years old. I’m 21 years old now and feed better than ever before. It’s such a great feeling to get baptized by Him, I love this guy so much, and I am so thankful for him. I’m worshiping God, understanding The Bible, praising The Lord, and helping younger kinds in and out of MFB… The road will still be rough but with God nothing is impossible and He will walk with me everywhere I go.
